This olive oil comes from the northern coast of eastern Crete, from the village of Tourloti. An ex cocktail mixologist, Giorgos moved into olive farming to be closer to his roots, to make a life close tonature and to enjoy the peace it brings. His family run a taverna in the village which uses his olive oil exclusively -- so he makes the best extra virgin olive oil that he can!
Giorgos’ olives are grown on well watered, lush and green terraces in steep gorges that lead to the sea. The trees are beautiful, old and twisted. Giorgos’ olives are grown on his own land and land he rents from other owners. He experiments with organic techniques and hopes to improve his quality for next year.
His 2020 extra virgin olive oil is already excellent, however! Beautiful colour, perfect balance. Good acidity at 0.5%. Just as Giorgos and his family cook everything with it, so can you. Overall, Giorgos’ oil may be the best bang for the buck in our range.
